Chamber
Music Program
The string chamber music program is directed by members of the Kairos Quartet,
which is the resident ensemble of Central Washington University. In the Chamber Music Seminar the Kairos Quartet
combines coachings and master classes to maximize student learning.
Past Ensembles:
Abraxas Quartet performed in final round
of the national Fischoff Chamber Music Competition. Gestalt Quartet went to the final round of the Music Teachers National Association Competition.
Atropos Quartet, "The Sirens" Quartet and Gryphon Quartet actively performed on-campus and doing outreach in the community and across the state.
Piano Chamber Music Class
Taught by piano professor Dr. John Pickett, this course allows string
players to explore the vast sonata and piano&string chamber music repertoire
with accomplished student pianists. The class is usually taught in masterclass
format.
Classics in Ellensburg Series
Professor Rehkopf organizes a series of concert events
designed to attract audiences that would otherwise not attend classical music
concerts. The First Friday Brown Bag Concerts affords numerous opportunities
for student performances.

Other chamber music performance opportunites include Studio Class, Convocation/Recital
Hour, String Studio Concerts, Student Recitals, Studio Projects, and Farrell
Merit Projects that are described in more detail in the solo opportunities section
above.
