The Abraxas Quartet
formed in January of 2003. Shortly after, they were the first group since 1985 to represent Central Washington University at the internationally recognized Fischoff Chamber Music Competition. Abraxas has performed extensively around the state of Washington and in the Midwest. They have given recitals and performances in Seattle, Tacoma, Ellensburg, Ferndale, Wenatchee and Leavenworth. The Abraxas Quartet made their radio debut on a live broadcast of KING FM's "Live By George" in Seattle. Last summer, Abraxas participated in the Icicle Creek Chamber Music Institute. Abraxas' Outreach Program has provided the Quartet with opportunities to visit schools and youth symphonies giving presentations and working with the students. The Quartet performs regularly in many different venues consisting of museums, banquets, ceremonies, and peace rallies. AbraxasÕ principal coaches include the Kairos String Quartet and the Icicle Creek Piano Quartet. Currently, all four members are pursuing degrees in music at Central Washington University.
